So keep coming back to the website and check our latest news and updates – you don’t want to miss out. Of course, if you want a more detailed funding service– please get in touch with us and we will see how we can help you: info@funmefit.com.

Funder: Henry Smith Charity

Fund title: Holiday grants for children

Open: November 2014 to fund holidays in 2015.

For this particular fund you will need to identify that the children attending such a recreational holiday are from a deprived area, have a disability or are experiencing disadvantage.

The funder requires you to make a strong case for why your application should be considered. Consider using information such as the Office for National Statistics website at http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/taxonomy/index.html?nscl=Communities where you can get detailed information about your neighbourhood.

You can apply for between £500 and £2500, with normally two thirds of the total holiday funded if you are successful – as the Henry Smith Charity like to see that you have raised funding elsewhere too.

Schools, youth groups, not for profit organisations and charities are all eligible to apply. This is one particular fund we have chosen that gives you plenty of time to get used to applying for funding and plan a long time before you intend to make your trip.

So use the help on the FunMeFit website and if you have an idea for a trip that fits the criteria then why not give it a go. Imagine how thrilled you will be if you get the funding and the children who ultimately benefit get to go somewhere they have never been before.

Check the website for more information, application and contact details. Henry Smith Charity Website.

The Tour de France in Yorkshire

July 2, 2014 in Community Issues, Events, Health & Fitness, Latest Articles, News, Sport, Uncategorized

If you didn’t know that the Tour de France is coming to Yorkshire on 5th and 6th July (this weekend), then you must have been living in a cupboard. It’s here! How has it changed things for you?

There are yellow bicycles popping up across the county as the riders will be finishing stage 2 of the Grand Depart right here in Sheffield. Whether you’re native to Sheffield, Yorkshire or none of the above, it’s hard to ignore the fact that the small villages and towns along the route are benefiting from some well-deserved international attention.

In Sheffield alone, beautiful hidden gems like Bradfield are coming to life to celebrate the riders’ cycling through. Events, activities and parties are being held by the local community, supported by local businesses to showcase what the rural communities have to offer.

International sporting events like this don’t pass through Yorkshire often, so in the few days before #TDF2014, make sure your business stands out for this once in a lifetime occasion. Get involved, tweet about it, post it on Facebook, share your local events and activities in celebration of it and most of all, enjoy it! Getting involved in the online conversation is important for all this weekend.

Let us know how you’ll be celebrating the Tour de France, what you’ve got planned and how it’s affected your business/home life. Has it got you on your bike again? Or like me, do you just want to be as fit as those cyclists? However the Tour de France affects you and/or your business, send us your experience info@funmefit.com and we’ll share in our next blog.

Enjoy.
